Matthew is currently the Percussion Director at Klein Collins High School in Spring, TX,
and the Vice President of Percussion and Winds for Texas Colorguard Circuit. As an
educator, he has had the remarkable chance to collaborate with some of the most
prestigious percussion programs across the United States, including Ayala High School,
Vista Murrieta High School, Los Alamitos High School, and Woodbridge High School. His
ensembles have consistently earned top rankings in esteemed competitive circuits, such
as Bands of America, Southern California Percussion Alliance, and Winter Guard
International. From 2013 to 2024, Matthew also held various roles with the Blue Stars
Drum and Bugle Corps, including Front Ensemble Manager, Caption Head, and Arranger.
In addition, he served as a front ensemble instructor at RCC Indoor Percussion from 2015
to 2023
Matthew’s writing portfolio features a diverse array of ensembles, such as Bridgeland
High School, Ayala High School, Vista Murrieta High School, Eden Prairie High School,
STRYKE Percussion, and the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, along with numerous
other groups throughout the U.S. While his primary focus is on percussion music, he also
enjoys composing for other genres, including winter guard. He has created and produced
music for ensembles like Mirage Performance Ensemble, Diamante, and Malachi Winter
Guard. Furthermore, Matthew has been contributing as an editor and writer for
Wunderpit Music since 2011.
With an extensive history in Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International,
Matthew has performed with Crossmen in 2005 and 2006, Colts from 2007 to 2009, Blue
Devils in 2010 and 2011, and RCC Indoor Percussion in 2011 and 2012. Matthew proudly
endorses Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, Zildjian Cymbals, and Evans Drumheads.

Andrea Noriega is currently the Color Guard Director at Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. She started teaching in the district in 2019 and has been teaching since 2011.
Andrea attended the University of North Texas where she studied Studio Arts. Previous to her studies at UNT, she studied at Blinn Junior College.
Andrea’s previous teaching experiences include Undaunted Independent Winterguard, Cypress Independent Winterguard, Bri’A Independent Winterguard, Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, La Grange High School, MacArthur High School, and Flower Mound High School.
Andrea’s performing history includes Cy-Fair High School Marching Band and Winterguard, Blinn Junior College Marching Band, Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, and Cypress Independent Winterguard.

Doug began his judging career with Winter Guard International in 2002, building on a lifelong passion for the activity that began when he performed with his high school winterguard and attending his first WGI Olympics in 1982. He currently judges in the Equipment and Movement captions, bringing decades of expertise to the role. Over the years, Doug has adjudicated for numerous organizations, including Winter Guard International, Drum Corps International, and the Texas Color Guard Circuit, where he serves as Vice President of Adjudication. His performance background includes Florewood Winterguard, Final Analysis Winterguard, and the color guard of the SkyRyders Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition to performing, Doug has worked extensively as an instructor and designer, continually refining his skills through professional experiences and ongoing learning. In his role as Vice President of Talent Development at Raytheon Technologies, he leverages his expertise in developing talent—an approach he also applies to training judges at the local circuit level. Doug’s interests extend beyond the competitive arena. He enjoys all aspects of the performing arts, as well as theater, travel, public speaking, and architecture/design. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Economics from Tougaloo College and a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.

Will Toruno is currently serving as the Color Guard Director at McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy and nominated as a 2026 Texas Color Guard Director of the Year. Will has been on staff for many Austin- area schools including Moe & Gene Johnson, Glenn, Austin, Round Rock, Lake Travis, and Lehman high schools. Will has been a part of the pageantry arts as a performer and educator for over a decade and started out in Miami at South Dade Senior High school. He has performed or taught a wide range of ensembles including FIU Marching Band, South Florida Independent, Relentless Open, Relentless World, Spirit of Atlanta, and FIU Gold in 2022 where they won WGI Independent A class Championship. On the independent stage, he was on staff for The Cadets Drum Corps and now is currently a lead staff member and choreographer for the Seattle Cascades Drum Corps. He has also been a staff and choreographer for FIU Blue, Gold, and World, also the FIU Marching Band.

Dusty Norris has served as the Percussion Director at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood
Texas since the fall of 2007. During his time at Clear Brook, the percussion program has won
numerous awards in all genres of percussion including being a five-time silver medalist and the
2018 gold medalist at the WGI World Championships in Dayton Ohio. Clear Brook is also a
seven-time gold medalist at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships. In 2017, Clear
Brook drumlines production of “The Descent” was awarded WGI’s Open Class “Fan Favorite”
award. During the 2016 winter season, Mr. Norris earned the honor of being the first
percussionist inducted into the Texas Color Guard Circuit “Hall of Fame”.
Originally from Indianapolis Indiana, Mr. Norris holds a master’s degree in music performance
from the University of Akron, as well as a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Eastern
Illinois University. While pursuing his music degrees, Mr. Norris was a member of the 1996
Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp and served as the director of the University of Akron
Marching Zips Drumline.
Mr. Norris is proudly endorsed by Pearl/Adams Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads,
and Promark Drumsticks and Mallets.

Currently in his 20th year teaching, Mauricio serves as Director of Percussion at Pioneer High School with
Sharyland ISD along with being Co-Director for Synergy Indoor. He has earned a Bachelors in Music
Education from Texas A&M Kingsville, and a Masters in Performance from the University of Texas Rio
Grande Valley. Mauricio has been Director of Percussion at Pioneer High School since 2015, and has
previously served as Program Facilitator for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Indoor Percussion
Ensemble.
While at UTRGV, Mauricio served as Graduate Assistant with the Percussion Studio under Dr. Mark
Ramirez and Dr. Marco Schirripa. Mauricio was also a recipient of the prestigious Sustainability Fellowship
Scholarship and had the honor of working alongside recent Medal of Freedom honoree, Dr. Juliet Garcia.
In the spring of 2018, the Pioneer High School Percussion Ensemble was named winner of the Percussive
Arts Society – International Percussion Ensemble Competition and performed a showcase concert at PASIC
’18 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This marked the first time the ensemble received this prestigious honor. The
ensemble premiered music by Jesus J. Martinez and performed with renowned percussionist Matt
Penland of the Air Force Concert Band and current Percussion Arranger for Phantom Regiment. The
Pioneer Percussion Ensemble is continuing their MasterWorks series where they are premiering newly
commissioned works written by new and upcoming hispanic composers. This year marks the seventh year
of its existence and look forward to continuing to highlight the talented local composers of South Texas.
Currently, Mauricio performs with the Valley Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Percussion Section.
In addition to his professional duties with Sharyland ISD, Mauricio keeps a private percussion studio, as
well as being an active clinician, adjudicator, and performer in the Rio Grande Valley. Mauricio’s
professional affiliations include TMEA, TBA, Innovative Percussion, Marimba One, and Sabian Cymbals.
